"History on the Move" Mobile Museum
Thanks to a generous grant from the Community Foundation of South Central Wisconsin, we are pleased to be able to bring a high-quality interactive, personalized, and economical museum experience right to your school or other community venue.
Significant flexibility is built into the program in order to meet the needs of each audience, ranging from casual self-guided learning to a fully-guided programming experience. It is adaptable for indoor or outdoor use, as well.
Our museum's vital story is highlighted through large all-weather banners, artifacts, displays, and hands-on components. This core educational material serves as a springboard for an accompanying educational program. PBS Wisconsin Education has also donated a large quantity of educational maps that may be distributed to participants.
The rate for schools is $3 per student (teachers free) plus a fee for round-trip mileage. Our age range recommendation for the school program is 3rd grade through high school. If desired, we can set up the exhibition in a common area, such as a gymnasium, and offer programming tailored to different age groups at various times throughout the day. Care facilities (assisted living, nursing homes) and veterans groups also enjoy a special reduced rate of $3 per person plus a mileage fee. For other venues, such as public library programs or civic group functions, the fee is $5 per attendee (minimum charge of $50) plus mileage.
Contact us to schedule and customize a History on the Move experience during our off-season (November - March). If you are located within a couple hours' drive of Portage, Wisconsin, we would be happy to serve you! If you are more distant, please still feel free to inquire and we can determine feasibility on a case-by-case basis.
